While the Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty Summit trail is a busy highway most of the year for fitness fans and nature lovers, our tour takes a more serene and less strenuous path to the top. Using parts of the Heysen Trail, this walk will take you east and south of the summit, circling the upper reaches of the mountain before climbing to the spectacular panoramic views of metropolitan Adelaide. On a clear day you can see across Gulf of St Vincent to the grain silos of Ardrossan. It's mostly downhill from there, taking in the manicured beauty of Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens before a well-earned break at a local cafe to sample some of the region's finest produce and locally roasted coffee. This will give you the final burst of energy required to tackle the last leg to a local winery where you can celebrate your efforts with a glass of wine.

The trail is easy/medium and suitable for walkers of average fitness (steep in sections with uneven surfaces).

Meander among the stringy bark forests, vineyards, orchards and market gardens throughout picturesque Piccadilly Valley. As seasons change the Valley becomes a star attraction for photographers keen to capture its patchwork of colours - lush greens and golden hues of Summer; vibrant reds, oranges and yellows as deciduous trees release their leaves in Autumn and brilliant splashes of wildflowers in Spring. The first third of the tour is an undulating walk rising to Mount Lofty summit, revealing birdseye views of metropolitan Adelaide. Take a comfort stop amongst the tourist throng before heading far from the crowds to a quiet clearing along the Heysen Trail with views of Outer Harbor and Adelaide's sapphire coastline where you can enjoy a break. Once refreshed, the tour changes pace into the Valley with a unique trail through private farming properties where you will learn about the horticultural heritage of the region, under vine and orchards for more than 100 years. Depending on the season, there may be some fresh produce to sample. Sightings of koalas, the Splendid Blue Wren, parrots and honey eaters are regular on this walk. You may even spy a spiny echidna. Allowing for plenty of time for breaks and photographs, the tour ends with a stroll through vineyards to a local winery where you can savour a well-deserved glass of wine at their cellar door. Your guide will then arrange transport back to your departure point.
